Celebrating our long-serving colleagues
We are so proud of our staff here at Aldermans – many of whom have been with us for more than 20 years, and some very much longer.
On Saturday 14th November we decided to thank all our staff, and particularly honour our longest-serving members, with a trip to watch our local rugby team, Plymouth Albion.
We are so proud of our staff here at Aldermans – many of whom have been with us for more than 20 years, and some very much longer.
On Saturday 14th November we decided to thank all our staff, and particularly honour our longest-serving members, with a trip to watch our local rugby team, Plymouth Albion.
We watched the home team play Darlington Mowden Park (and sadly lose 25-15). Then we retired to the bar to raise a glass in celebration of our Aldermans team, which is most certainly a winning one.
Our longest-serving colleagues wore badges showing their years of service – although some did try to pretend it was their age! We paid tribute in particular to ten colleagues, who between them have accumulated an impressive 246 years at Aldermans:
- Al Baker – 37 years, starting 23rd Dec 1977
- Mike Lang – 29 years
- Danny Russell – 28 years
- Rob West – 25 years
- Fred Tribe – 25 years
- Tony McEwen – 22 years
- Paul Weeks – 20 years
- Gary Thomas – 20 years
- Paul Carter – 20 years
- Ros Payne – 20 years
Part of what makes the Aldermans team strong is the diversity of our skills and experience. While we have many long-serving staff, we also frequently bring in new blood, firstly through our commitment to apprenticeships, as well as other routes such as the Ready For Work initiative, and internships.
We recognise that many of our employees come to us and stay, contributing greatly to the team spirit, stability and efficiency of our workforce; and we are therefore now introducing a formal long-service reward scheme to thank those who have been a key part of our business success.
