International Women’s Day 2024

This year’s #IWD2024 International Women’s Day theme is Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.

There is still much more to be done to attract and retain more women in UK manufacturing and engineering. Our industry provides so many amazing opportunities (more women are wanted and needed) so today on International Women’s Day, we want to say a big thank you to the incredible women of Aldermans, introducing:

Dee
Senior Buyer knows the metal fabrication business inside and out and works closely with our fantastic suppliers to ensure we get the best service and materials.

Lucy
She joined us in January 2024 for an industrial placement while studying for her T Level in Manufacturing, Process and Control in Fabrication and Welding. She has settled in brilliantly and is soaking up the knowledge in all our processes.

Karen
Our Managing Director and also Chair of Plymouth Manufacturers’ Group. A Civil Engineering graduate, Karen is passionate about skills and championing the next generation in engineering and UK manufacturing.


Ros
Accounts Administrator and arguably our most important person as she pays the wages and our crucial supply partners. Ros has been with us for over 28 years and is fully qualified in AAT accounting practices.


Lydia
Our most recent Metal Fabricator Apprentice. Lydia joined us in September 2023 on a three-year apprenticeship and is studying for a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering at City College Plymouth and has made a real impact on the shop floor.
